Running a busy salon and managing a team? You already know the pressure that comes with juggling appointments, staff, and operations—especially if you’re still working behind the chair. Time can either be your best asset or your biggest challenge.

That’s why I’ve put together my Top 10 Time Management Tips—designed specifically for salon managers who want to increase efficiency, reduce stress, and earn more.

1. Plan Ahead

Even a few minutes of focused planning can save hours later. Don’t over-schedule—leave space for the unexpected.

2. Make Lists

Keep to-do lists updated daily to keep your priorities in check. It’s a small habit that pays off big.

3. Communicate Clearly

When you’re too busy to explain things properly, mistakes happen. Strong leadership starts with strong communication.

4. Take Breaks

Set the tone for your team by taking your own breaks. Rested managers make better decisions.

5. Manage Your Inbox

Emails and DMs piling up? Block out a short time each day to get through them all in one go.

6 & 7. Prepare to Delegate—and Then Actually Do It

You can’t do everything. Let go of tasks, even ones you enjoy, and empower your team to take responsibility.

8. Lead by Example

Even if you're overwhelmed, maintain a calm, open-door attitude. Your team needs to feel they can approach you.

9. Handle Interruptions Strategically

Not every issue is urgent. Set boundaries and learn how to politely but firmly close long-winded conversations.

10. Know When It’s Too Much

Burnout is real. If time management alone isn’t enough, it’s time to reassess your workload or get support.
